  • Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) can cause damage to the eye and lead to serious ocular pathologies. Excessive exposure to UVR can increase oxidative stress (OS) in eye tissues, contributing to conditions like age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and ocular surface diseases. Hydroxytyrosol can helps in protecting eyesight in various ways.

  • Hydroxytyrosol and oleuropein appear to have several potential beneficial effects on the pathology and symptoms of Alzheimer's disease, including inhibiting Tau and Aβ aggregation, promoting autophagy, improving mitochondrial function, and providing neuroprotection. However, the dosage and timing of treatment may be critical factors in achieving these effects. Further research is needed to fully understand their therapeutic potential for Alzheimer's disease.

  • Hydroxytyrosol (HT) is the most powerful antioxidant found in olives and olive oil. HT has been studied expansively over the decades for its anti-inflammatory, anti-thrombotic, anti-atherogenic, hypoglycemic effects, and neuro-regeneration. The antioxidant nature of HT is mainly attributed to the aforementioned health benefits. As a guideline, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) panel suggested that a minimum of 5 mg of HT should be consumed to achieve physiological benefits.
